Creative Painting Workshops in Oromocto, NB

Soldier On will be offering two weekly Creative Painting workshops to members of the Oromocto, NB local area beginning in the new year. On Tuesdays January 18 and 25 (Group A) or Thursdays January 20 and 27 (Group B) at 6 - 8 p.m., participants will complete two projects with their newly acquired painting skills.

*All participants will be required to show proof of dual Covid-19 vaccinations upon arrival of the first session.

This activity will bring together both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.

This workshop will allow participants opportunity to complete two projects with the Oromocto Galleria and learn various painting techniques that can be used in future projects.

Project 1 - Entry Bench - this will be an unfinished wooden bench, participates will learn to paint and/or stain their projects.

Project 2 - Resin Art - participants will create a piece of art work, using our Resin Pour Products. They will learn a variety of techniques using Resin medium such as flip pour, swirl pour and puddle pour.

Assistance throughout the event will be provided courtesy of Kim Smith, Owner of the Oromocto Galleria.

The group of 20 will be split into two groups of 10 in order to maximize participation. Participants will indicate their preferred time slot in their application.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 20.

Minimum eligibility criteria
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from Oromocto geographical area who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Serving Members
Medical clearance may be required by your chain of command.

Mental & Physical Requirements
Participants must be able to tolerate two hours of light-paced activity.

Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
 
Nomination Forms must be received by Soldier On no later than the 17th of December 2021.
